i went out with emily, tonight.

went shoe shopping with her.

she was looking for tennis shoes and sandals and what not.

i just kind of tagged along, watching her.

at one point we were sitting on a bench while she tried on high heels and i happened to look down to the front of the store.

there were two kids, around 6 years old, standing there, watching themselves on the tv.

they started dancing and moving and jumping and i started laughing and pointed them out to emily.

we watched them for a minute. then the girl, this really little, young girl, started to do THE ROBOT.

except, you know, it was a really bad version of the robot. but it was the robot.

and so, of course, it made me laugh pretty hard. because it made me happy.

it just made me wonder how in the hell a six year old girl knew about the robot.

then they started dancing around and the girl accidentally shot her gum out in this graceful arc.

the gum landed on the ground.

and, with both of the kids laughing, she picked it up and popped it right back in her mouth.

then they turned around to leave, and the little boy was holding onto something that set off the detectors.

he didnt want to give it up.

refused to, at one point, but then was convinced it was okay to give it back.

i guess, yeah, i want kids.

if only to laugh at them in public places.

but, really, isnt that the best reason to have children?

that and some nonsense about raising wonderful adults to make the world a better place blahblahblah.

you know. that stuff.
