i drove a total of over 6 and a half hours to see her for twenty minutes.

at first i thought i was late, her plane had landed, she had gotten off, and already moved onto her next gate.

i wandered the airport.

came back.

she was there, leaning against a pole, waiting.

and her face lit up. she walked across the hall, grabbed me.

i had forgotten how tall she really is. i had also forgotten how smooth her face is, how her laugh comes out.

we walked to her next gate, talking. an old man started a conversation with me, she just watched, amused.

she told me she had missed our drawl.

ours, not hers. because she isn't from around here.

she was boarded early. as she was walking down the connecting tube, she looked back, smiling.

i miss her.

the drive home was torture. driving long distances, early in the morning, when it is dark, is easy. because you can play with your mind.

when it is noon, the sun right above you, showing you every inch you do travel, showing how slow or fast you go, kills me.

i came home and promptly fell asleep.

now i am waiting for phone calls. from kim. from others.

waiting for my night to begin.

waiting to take my shower.

waiting to eat.

waiting.

you may be right, i may be crazy, but it just may be a lunatic youre looking for tonight.
