last night jennifer told me she was going to make me stay out late. i asked someone else if i was going to stay out late, they said yes. and because i dont have a mind of my own, i stayed out late.

lookin back its still surprisin i was sinkin you were rising, with a look you caught me in midair.

we got bored. really bored. around 1 in the morning. we started thinking and realized what a boring town we all lived in.

nothing is open here late at night. not even kinkos.

walmart is. krogers is. waffle house is.

that's about it.

we sat there trying to think of things to do.

maybe go to the nearest state. which is fifteen minutes away.

if it wasnt so cold out, we would have gone to a park.

i left, when i came back they were talking about local haunted places.

so we decided to visit them at about two in the morning.

we couldnt find the headless statues, which is what i really wanted to see.

however we did find the haunted bridge.

with the bridge the story is a mother and her children went over the edge into the river and drowned.

what you do is drive across it, get it really dirty, and then approach it. you stop. put the car in neutral. turn the lights off.

which we did.

we sat there for a second.

still.

and i thought i felt movement, but i wasnt sure.

then i knew i felt movement.

we were being pushed towards the edge of the bridge. the longer we let the moving go on, the faster we moved, the closer to the edge we got.

we werent going downhill, either. at point, actually, we started heading uphill.

we were pushed for a long ways uphill.

we went back, got out, stood on the bridge.

i looked up, because im always checking the sky out, and the stars. sweet jesus in heaven i've never seen so many.

we did it again and were pushed even further uphill.

sometimes, they say, you can get the car dirty and see handprints.

we didnt.

we drove around some more. found the ghost dog.

you turn the corner and your beams, bam, they light the dog up. this dog, i think, was ran over a long long time ago.

my friend, who lives on the street, says that you used to be able to see it clearly, that it would run to your car and jump.

we turned the corner and it was like a real dog was just sitting there, how the beams lit it up.

dog or whatever it was, it was weird.

i really wish we had seen the statues, though. ive heard good stories about them.

AND THATS NOT THE END OF MY NIGHT!

well, actually, it is, but it's not the end of my night story.

long long long before this i went to walmart with a few friends. found a vending machine. bought a ring.

actually i bought a butterfly clip first, but that wasnt a ring, so then i bought the ring.

i gave a woman a ring.

and i know it wasnt really serious, i know i didnt drop to my knee or anything, but dammit i was nervous.

they wanted me to ask her in front of everyone else, but i said no.

followed her back to her room, shut the door, gave it to her.

she seemed kind of fluttery about it all.

we talked, headed back out, she wanted to show it off, i asked her if it was a yes or no, because she never said. she told me i never asked her.

i told her i wouldnt in front of them, so we turned back around.

i never really asked her anything. it was more me saying "well, whats the most you will say yes to?"

and her laughing and telling me we'll figure out a question later on.

and i bless the day i met you and i thank god he let you lay beside me for a moment that lives on. and the good news is im better for the time we spent together.

the bad news is youre gone.

i gave a woman a ring yo.

i feel all mature and old and in a damn relationship.

even though im not.

heh.

alright, time to take a shower and go to work.
