tonight, down in atlanta, there was a three hour debate on who the true jesus was. the jesus in the bible or the jesus in the koran.

the debate was airred over at a few colleges across the country and, so im told, a christian network.

i watched it. all three hours of it.

i was hungry, but that was neither here nor there.

the debate was good. both parties made some nice points, both were impressive.

but the people in the audience with me got me to thinking. they were all christian.

near the end, whenever the muslim guy would start on something, there would be muttering and al gore like sighs.

i took notes. notes from the speakers, notes from the audience.

oh, the last note i have?

"christian -> no sex in heaven."

dont ask.

both of the debaters had faith, that's a given. but what seemed to be the stumbling block was that neither one would allow the other their small bit of faith.

they had to have proof.

the muslim guy said that they couldn't prove jesus had been resurrected. sure he was crucified. but see, if he was crucified he couldn't have been the messiah, because the messiah is victorious, no? so then jesus wasnt the messiah because you cant prove he was resurrected.

except he said it more... believable like than i.

and the christian guy said that the koran was written in the 9th century, hundred of years after the fact, it was... i dont remember the phrase... but more or less a collection of jewish folk tales.

the people in the audience... a lot of people don't realize that their knowledge is not shared with everyone. i have passing knowledge of the bible, but i dont know the details they know. when the muslim, and other people in the q and a section, kept asking about the trinity and how they explained that the people kept sighing and complaining and acting incredulous. and you know, i was wanting him to explain the trinity because i didnt understand it.

i mean, yeah, if the father, son, and holy ghost are all one, and then that means that jesus was god (which the man said now) and that jesus died, for those three days wasnt god also dead?

what else...

ahh, yeah, christian guy never answered how jesus's death was a sacrfice.

more stuff, but i dont feel like going into it. its just stuff im going to have to think about.

after the debate was over i walked out with some people. this guy said something that bothered me, i cant even remember what it was now, but i turned around and said its all about faith. he believes what he believes, and so does the other guy. when it comes down to it, no one will be completely right. sure, there will be bits right, but no one will be able to say they had the majority right.

and you cant say that christianity is the one true religion, its not.

and yeah, they were all christians. so it was quiet.

and i left and ordered pizza.

talked to the girl for a minute or so tonight. but nothing was really said.

as much as i expected.

it was wonderful outside today. my boss lady was sick. my boss's boss lady's kid was there. she makes me laugh.

its late.
