i've been up all night, finishing things i should have done weeks ago.

i bought an answering machine tonight, too, in light of me sending out resumes and realizing i don't have an answering machine and, hence, no idea if anyone will call to hire my ass and give me lots of money and maybe a little action.

it started raining around 1. i heard the thunder first.

i went outside and it wasn't raining. there were clouds all above, dark clouds with that night tint they get sometimes when the moon is right.

and then lightning would brighten the world and the thunder would crash, but still, no rain.

i came back into the apartment, opened a window. as i worked, i listened.

the rain finally came, in big gushes that sound like someone was pouring from a bucket into a tub.

it was nice.

i sat at the kitchen table, working, translating, listening to these sounds.

then it all would stop, and it would be quiet.

and twenty minutes would pass like that, thirty, until the buckets poured again.

i wanted to stop what i was doing and lay on the couch in the dark just listening to it all. i wanted to fall asleep there, with the lightning and the thunder, the water and the slight breeze.

but i couldnt because i had too much to do.

and today, there's still much to do.

and i just want to call the day off. i want to cancel everything in count of there needs to be a day where i can sit in the dark and nap to the rain.

maybe saturday. maybe.

we shall all see soon.
